Blackwood Miners’ Institute is located in the South East Valleys of Wales, in Caerphilly County Borough and our presence on Blackwood’s busy high street places us at the heart of the community.

From the M4 Westbound (Newport) – at junction 28 take the A467, follow signs towards Brynmawr and then Blackwood. From the A465 (Heads of the Valleys Road), take the A4048 towards Tredegar and then Blackwood. Ring 01495 227206 for more details. From The M4 Eastbound (Cardiff), at junction 32 take the A470, then A468 (signposted to Caerphilly), then A469 (signposted to Ystrad Mynach), then A472 (signposted to Blackwood).

There is plenty of parking from as little as two minutes walk away. Please ensure that you read all signage carefully in your chosen car park as restrictions may apply. All Caerphilly County Borough’s Pay & Display car parks are free after 6pm. Blackwood Miners’ Institute has a limited number of disabled access parking spaces which must be pre-booked in advance by calling the box office on 01495 227206.

The building has limited access outside of the box office opening hours. If you require entrance to the building outside of these times, please speak to a member of our team by using our intercom system. The intercoms are located at both the main entrance and at the level access door at the rear of the building.

On performance days the box office is open from 1 hour before the start of the performance and closes once the performance starts.
Our fully licensed bar offers a wide range of beverages and confectionery. Tea and coffee is also available. The bar is open from 1 hour before the performance starts. On arrival at the Theatre, avoid the interval rush by pre-ordering your drinks at the bar.

Blackwood Miners’ Institute is a member of the HYNT scheme.
Hynt is a national access scheme working with a network of theatres and arts centres across Wales. Hynt is an Arts Council of Wales initiative managed by Creu Cymru in partnership with Diverse Cymru.
Hynt cardholders are entitled to a ticket free of charge for a personal assistant or carer at all the theatres and arts centres participating in the scheme.
You can book your tickets in person or over the phone by giving your unique Hynt reference number at the time of booking. A carer, companion, personal assistant or group organiser can book on behalf of a Hynt cardholder, however tickets can only be issued to the cardholder, who must show their photographic Hynt card each time they attend a performance.
